About Lake Hickory: Lake Hickory was created in 1927 and has around 109 miles of shore line. It is located in Alexander County near the town of Taylorsville. The Lake is approximately one hour from the city of Charlotte. At the Lake you can enjoy swimming, fishing, boating, sailing, kayakaking, canoeing, paddle boats, jet skiing, water skiing, tubing and wakeboarding. Activies available in the surrounding area includes shopping, biking, golf and sightseeing. Most people enjoy just setting around and watching the blue heron, geese and ducks. The lake is stocked with may species of fish.
